Il Vangelo della Domenica
Carattere
Venite a me, voi tutti che siete stanchi e oppressi, e io vi darò ristoro.

English version
XIV Sunday in Ordinary Time (July 3, 2011)
At that time Jesus said:
"I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for hiding these things from the wise and learned and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for so you decided in your favor. Everything has been given to me by my Father, no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son will reveal him.
Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your life. For my yoke is sweet and my burden light. " (Matthew 11.25-30)

Comment
The text of today's Gospel, must be read taking into account the context in which Jesus spoke these words He had spoken well before May: "We played the flute and you have not danced, we sang dirges, and you would not cry .." Not only that, but the Son of man is accused of being a glutton, a drunkard, an employee in his work of the devil. It 'strange people! .. When the uncomfortable and want to get out of certainties, certainties even though they are baseless, they attack you, or even want to make you fall on their situations.
E'doloroso sometimes recognize their limitations, but who does so is placed in the truth from himself, to God and their brothers. Humility and simplicity are two virtues that are easy hotel among men, however, two virtues that are the foundation of human dignity. Said as a Latin poet (43 BC): "Simplicity, which is extremely rare for our times.". Yet Jesus praises this virtue, which engages the Father's revelation of the truth: "I thank thee, Father, for hiding these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes .." In simplicity is combined with small innocence, and everything becomes agate without malice, in fact, Jesus takes the child as a model of simplicity. In addition, the child can live in confidence in the father and mother, and although his is the age of "why?", Is satisfied with the answers to the authority of one who gives it to. Simplicity combines with the candor and ingenuity if understood as having the eyes clean. And the simplicity is combined with the humility! Man in his arrogance and his pride in the building of "totems" that, to him, give the impression of being able to manage. But the arrogance and pride lead man to be alone even humanly. Jesus in his humility (cfr.2 0.5 to 11) entered in the plots of the story of every man to shed his light and to understand the wise of the world to get closer to God to descend from their thrones, and not having fear of being closed in mass. Humility does not cancel but it makes great before God ra themselves, and makes us find the truth. "Learn from me who am meek and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your souls ..", is the assertion that Jesus is the model of humility and meekness. And then the humble and simple people are always room in society for their discretion, for their non-intrusiveness, for the recognition of its limits.
All this "because the simplicity and humility is the strength of true greatness" (De Sanctis)
